Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained. (Philippians 3:15-16)
Here Paul promises that as we keep living by God’s commands, God will reveal anything inside us that needs adjustment.
Have you noticed that as we get older and more mature in Christ, we tend to understand how much further away from Him is our behavior? I have. I think it’s because when we’re younger, we don’t really understand just how holy our God is.
Blatant sins? Yes, God must deal with those quickly. But, as I’ve grown older, I see how much further I have to go to attain anything close to true holiness.
As a mathematician, I understand infinity. It’s still hard to grasp just how bug infinity is. But, when I try to compare the number one in my head against infinity, the game is unfathomable.
This is like how it is with a Christian: it is hard to FULLY understand the infinite God and His infinite holiness.
Praise God that He has reached down and taken hold of me, because I could never in a million years reach up and take hold of Him!
