The first post in this devotional series covering the book of Philippians is Devoted to Philippians.

That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. (Philippians 3:10-11)

Previously I discussed how verse ten is my life verse. It’s my number one goal: know God more fully.

Today we’ll see what that means from an eternal perspective. Verse ten says that Paul wanted to know God, including power and suffering, and eventually death. But, the GOAL of knowing God is in verse eleven: resurrection from the dead. Paul is in heaven now, where he knows Him completely.

So I work on knowing God as my highest priority, or at least I try to. But, I know that I’ll only know Him on a surface level here on Earth, where my sin keeps Him from me. I look forward to the day when I too will join Paul and all the other saints … knowing God!
