The first post in this devotional series covering the book of Philippians is Devoted to Philippians.
But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all. (Philippians 2:17)
This verse reaches all the way back to the middle of the first chapter, where Paul talks about being willing to live or die; either would be good to him. He’s basically saying that even if he dies at the hands of Nero, that’s OK. He still rejoices at the Philippians’ faith.
Would we be so joyful facing our own execution?
We should be! Death, for Christians, is merely a transition. And that transition is from a miserable existence on this sin-plagued world, into the presence and glory of the awesome Lord God Almighty! There will never be anything better than that transition!!!
