Living for Others

The first post in this devotional series covering the book of Philippians is Devoted to Philippians.

But if I am to live on in the flesh, this will mean fruitful labor for me. (Philippians 1:22)

Previously, I mentioned that Paul was OK regardless of whether he lived or died. Today, I want to look at staying on the planet. Living means working, and that’s good. Especially for Paul, who loved his work: spreading the gospel to the world.

Working can be dull. Something we do because we have to in order to pay the bills. But, the Bible speaks of working as a sacred calling from God.

Paul loved his work, but one could argue that it was ministry; of course he loved it! But, MY job?

Actually, yes. If God is with us while we work, ANY job can be a joy. It’s a choice we make. And, that choice is easier if we are able to work for other people.

Don’t like your job? Ask God to help you like it. Ask God to help you LOVE it! He can help you love your job as much as Paul loved his.
