Not Paul’s Pattern
The first post in this devotional series covering the book of Philippians is Devoted to Philippians.
For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 3:20)
In contrast to those who had fallen away from the One True God, Paul tells us that our citizenship is in Heaven.
Wait … what?
Actually, it does make sense. The previous verses were about people who were more focused on worldly matters than the things that matter to God. Here he informs us that we’re made out of different stuff. Christ has re-made us, and is forming something new and beautiful out of the old trash.
We belong to the King, and that is re-making our lives right underneath us, into something that looks good to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Everything we say and do reflects on Him. Thus we live differently.
Not that we SHOULD live differently, but that we DO live differently. Because He lives in us, we can live in a way that stands out in contrast to the world’s way.
And that’s a very good thing!
