The first post in this devotional series covering the book of Philippians is Devoted to Philippians.
… as soon as I see how things go with me; and I trust in the Lord that I myself also will be coming shortly. (Philippians 2:23-24)
As we’ve discovered, Paul isn’t really sure whether he will live or die. But, he’s an eternal optimist, so he hopes he will see the Philippians later.
I always try to say “see you later” when parting with someone, even if I don’t expect I ever will see them later. I do this because even if I don’t see them … in this life, I hope that I’ll see them again after this life! Even if the person isn’t a believer, I still say it.
And, while Paul didn’t use those words (he wrote in Greek), I get the sense that he is doing the same thing, and for the same reasons.
So, until my next post, “see you later!”
